The annual “Alice’s Day” is upcoming! If you are in the UK on July 6, join the festivities and activities and listen to interesting lectures from the Lewis Carroll Society.

Alice’s Day is Oxford’s annual celebration of Lewis Carroll’s books. It’s a one day event coordinated by the Story Museum and offers a day full of events inspired by the story. Venues and museums across the city offer Alice-themed events and activities, bringing the book to life and encouraging people of all ages to (re)discover Wonderland. This year’s theme is ‘Time’.

Activities on the programme include: dancing a Lobster Quadrille, giant bouncing white rabbits from the Grand Theatre of Lemmings, walks and trails, readings, lectures, dressing up, face painting, and crafting – like drop-in printing and mini book-making.

The Lewis Carroll Society organizes the following talks:

  • “Alice’s Nightmare in Wonderland”: an innovative adventure gamebook with a dangerous twist
  • “Alice in Guinness-time”: a 1960s’ advertising campaign using Lewis Carroll’s characters
  • “Alice in Fashion-land”: over a century of changing trends and designs inspired by Wonderland
  • “Timeless Alice: adventures in modernity: from the fourth dimension to climate change”

Date: 6 July 2019
Location: Oxford, United Kingdom
